Is it really failing? The library name should only be a warning, at
least when I tested it on my Linux system with autoconf 2.13. I had
to update it do to incompatibilities with autoconf 2.53. The real
solution here to remove this warning would be to use libtool on this
1 shared library we need to build--but I'm not ready to start digging
into that before a release.

I'm getting the following failure from CVSMake on the 04Apr CVS
snapshot Peter just posted. It appears I do have David's most recent
patch, so it's something else.
