I agree that it's a great way to use DX, giving it an edge over many other viz packages. Other software manufacturers are only now beginning to latch on to this concept. For example, a recent release of Maple introduced the concept of a "maplet"- a Maple script converted to a web applet - they are giving it a lot of hype.
