- Force the use of $HOME/DX instead of allowing XLib to locate
an application defaults file on its own.
- Always test $HOME/DX for writability.
- Issue a warning if the file isn't writable.
- Disable the 'Recent Programs' menu item if there are no recent
programs rather than giving a single disabled sub-menu-item.
