The configure warnings are just that warnings. The difference is that
the newer autoconf actually tries to compile headers not just look
them up--whereas the older version didn't. I've got a fix for the
magick warnings and will have it checked in before release.
As for the problem with zclipQ.c, lots of people have been noticing
this with gcc 3.3. It actually is a problem with the compiler, not
the code. Other compilers gcc 3.2, and native compilers don't exhibit
this behavior. Has somebody reported it to gcc as a bug?

I'm using autoconf 2.53 and automake-1.5.

The following gmake then hangs (!) on the file src/exec/libdx/zclipQ.c.
With "hangs" I mean that this file compiles for ever.
The following lines in src/exec/libdx/zclipQ.c are the culprit:
At line 91:

TRYCLIP(z2,z3,z1, p2,p3,p1, v2,v3,v1) else

Apart from this being an uggly programming style, there might be some
recursive preprocessor work going on here?
Why not using functions instead of such complex macros?
