Dear DXers - I've been working on interpolating data from an irregular connected tet grid to a regular hex grid using Map and Regrid. The Regrid module mentions that the interpolation function is 1/r^(exponent), and it appears that Map performs some form of spatial weighting for points within the tet mesh. Does someone know the "official" names of the interpolation algorithms implemented for these two modules? I would like to look them up somewhere to get a better feel for what is actually being performed in the modules.
Please forgive me if the answer has been discussed before - I couldn't find specifics on the mailing lists, and I've been paging through the source for hours (my C ain't what it used to be).
