Fix a mistake I made using $HOME/.dx-ad for storing recently-used files.
Now, the framework creates the hidden settings file only if
the application indicates that it really will add new settings.
That way we won't wind up with $HOME/.dxtutor-ad, $HOME/.mb-ad, ..., that we
don't need. Also, on behalf of applications for which the hidden
file has already been created AND is 0 length, delete the file.
