David,
I am uploading the new Opendx 4.0.9 with MOTIF 1.2.4. The binaries
still need Cygwin. If you have Cygwin installed it is good,
otherwise necessary stuff is included.

Following is the README file

----------------

In for Thanksgiving.

Although this release still called EXPERIMENTAL second version. It
seems to be very stable at my NT worksation, though some glitches
remains, like sometimes DX Server will time out, particularly when i
open example1.net from tutorials.

This version is compiled using MOTIF 1.2.4 from Exceed 6.2.
Though a properly configured X-server would not require an Exceed
6.x X-server, but I do not GAURANTEE it. I have tested it on Sun's
PC-Ware and Exceed 3D 6.2.

If you have Cygwin installed first you must mount your C drive as
binary
for example
umount /
mount -b c: /
(ignore warning of / does not exists)

Then ungiped and untar the archive, of course after downloading.

SORRY size of the archive is big (approx 37 MB). I do not have time
at the moment to split it into pieces. I wanted the software get
out of door first.

The lib_cygwin also includes precompiled OpenDx libraries for
Microsoft
Compilers MSVC 6.0, though you may need Exceed XDK 6.2 if you want
to
develop modules using my precompiled libraries.

lib_cygwin directory also contains DX libraries built using GCC and
OSF/MOTIF 1.2.4. To use these libraries you may need GCC 2.95.2 and
MOTIF 1.2.4 for Cygwin from Exceed XDK 6.2.

I highly RECOMMEND installing the software in /usr/local on your C
drive if you do not have enough space on C:/ drive you must fidle
around with OpenDX.bat.... but the directory /usr/local/share must
go on C drive
in C:\usr\local\share. That is where DX executables will search for
XNLSPATH and XLC_LOCALE.

Samples are not includes. You should downlaod dxsamples-4.0.7 from
www.research.watson.ibm.com/dx and install them in
/usr/local/dx/samples
or edit the Opendx.bat file for your DXMACRO path.

Have fun.

Suhaib

BTW: Do not expect any response from me between Nov 26th and Decmber
30th, please. I will be away. During this time I hope others may
help Win32 users with installation and users related problems.
