Sorry to mislead you a bit. I'm using LinuxPPC on a laptop. I use XFree86
3.3.5 with a ATI RageLT chipset. I haven't seen problems but I will look
into it further.

I do however get the black lines sometimes in 8bpp. I'm also going to look
into this.
