I have just built 4.0.10 on my RH 6.1 system using LessTif and Mesa. I used a
CVS snapshot downloaded Fri 1/28. So far, it works well -- occasionally dumps
core (I think the system runs out of resources on a large visualization...). I
built it as a mortal user in a /home/... subdirectory and installed it as root
into /usr/local/dx.

Java stuff didn't build using Blackdown jdk1.2.2 -- couldn't find jni headers,
but I have plenty to keep me busy learning as it is. Thanks to all.

BTW the precompiled binaries have a problem with the interactors --steppers,
dials -- not working, at least on my system. The CVS version (discussion of a
"trunc" problem in the mailing list) works OK.
