Not silly: the dialog box arrangement is non-intuitive. Like you, I think
'start-end-increment', but that's not what it asks.
Note that series "member" number (an integer which Select selects by) is
not necessarily the same as series "position" which is a user-defined
arbitrary value (float) representing something like time or voltage or
whatever is appropriate. "member" always starts at 0 and is monotonic
increasing by 1 (you can't change this). You can recover series "position"
for use in Captions, etc. with Inquire("series positions"): you get a
scalar list which can then be also Select'ed by the same index to recover
the particular value for the current member. That presupposes you Inquire
of the entire Series, though you should get a list of 1 item if you Inquire
of a series member (I think: you may get an error that that Inquire can
only be done on a series not a field which is what a member is after
extraction from a series.)
If you have memory limits and cannot import the whole series at once (which
happens by default), you can unhide the Import start and end tabs and do
the sequenced selecting at that point, but then you don't have a convenient
way to colormap or range by the entire data set.
