i know opendx doesn't use the license manager code (yea!) but for
those people still in transition and using the product version, there
may be a leap year related license bug.

a user reported to me that they have a transition key in /usr/lpp/dx/expiration
which expires apr 12th. it's been working fine, but today if they start dx
w/ no args, the startup screen is ok but then if they click on "new vis program"
it hangs for 30 sec (looking for a lic manager i'd guess) and then tells him
this version of dx expired today!

when i try it here on a similiar setup i get the same thing except the UI tells
me that i don't have a valid license and i can get a 5 minute demo session.
but on the xterm where i started dx, i see the message saying my license
is good until april 12th of this year. so the problem seems to be in the
handoff of a license from startupui to dxui.

there's an easy workaround - start it with 'dx -edit' and it's fine.
i thought i'd post here in case anyone else w/ a product version of dx
is seeing the same problem as well.
