Be sure to cast the output of the Compute (a||b) to byte, then check that all values are either 00 or 01 with Print.
i.e. byte(a) || byte(b) or if extremely paranoid, byte(byte(a) || byte(b)) to be sure nothing got promoted on you. You shouldn't have e+38 in a byte array. If you have done that, I'll take the next stab by building a test set (or you can send me your test sets).
