1) Download OpenDX ZIP file - which you have already done?

2) Unzip OpenDX ZIP file and place the OpenDX directoru on your
C:\ drive

3) Download X-servers-v-1.0.tar.bz2 (sorry due to space problems
Cygnus requires all the hosted developers use only Bzip2 format archives)
You can get X-servers from:
ftp://sourceware.cygnus.com/pub/cygwin/xfree/contrib/X-servers-v-1.0.tar.bz2

4) Download Bzip2 for Windows from:
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/bzip2

5) Using a DOS shell bunzip2 the X-servers archive

cd <to-directory-where X-server-v-1.0.tar.bz2 is>

bzip2 -d X-servers-v-1.0.tar.bz2 then hit enter key

6) Using Winzip or a Tar utility for Windows, untar
X-servers-v-1.0.tar

7) You will have now a directory called user.

move to your C:\drive or to watever drive you have space

8) From DOS shell, cd to user\bin\X11 directory

cd \usr\bin\X11

9) start X-server first using startdx,bat file

startdx

10) Then cd to OpenDX\bin directory from you DOS shell
cd c:\opendx\bin

11) start OpenDX using one of the batch file, for example:

editor

12) Now you should have VPE pannel in your X-server root display area
with DXEXEC already runing in the background.
