Exceed comes with only X-server with very basics. Exceed 3D is an add on to Exceed. Exceed 3D adds OpenGL to Exceed for another $200, pretty expensive add-on ;-) > > The problem is simple: when I try to switch an Image window Rendering > Options to "Hardware", I get an error in DX message window "ERROR: Image: > Display: Operation not implemented: GLX extension not installed". Exceed 3D supposed to provide you Hardware rendering. I suspect something is wrong with you Exceed installation. Did you install Exceed first? Reboot your PC then Install Exceed 3D? I had once installed Exceed first then installed Exceed 3D without rebooting. Everything was screwed up. On your Desktop you should have a Folder Exceed. It had an Icon named Hummingbird Update. Use that to update your Exceed version. Hummingbird released almost 60 patches for Exceed. Maybe that is the problem. Ic an switch back and forth between hardware and software rendering on my Exceed/Exceed 3D. > > What am I missing here? (this net and others work fine using software > rendering, by the way). Yes. >I should mention that I have this video > card in a Dell 410: Intense 3D Pro 3410-GT; that's a couple years old, so > maybe there's a GL incompatibility (?). > Its worth while checking if there are OpenGL drivers available fro your video card. However Exceed uses GLX extensions not wGL, therefore it should not cause error. A OpenGL accelerated driver will be good for your viewing pleasure. > Thanks! So close... (:-0 c:\exceed\usr\rgdb.txt. if you know the ins and outs of x-servers, you could create a custom rgb for you, instead of using defaults. Please check Exceed manuals. > > Nevertheless, thanks for persisting Suhaib and getting things > this far. Not > having to get cygwin installed and configured made this one go a lot > easier. Problem is X and MOTIf libraries, they cannot deal spaces in names. >This made the initial startup very painless > since I didn't have to muck with the supplied bat files. Supplied batch files are examples. Users can create their own. It is better for me to add them then to listen complains that no batch file or menu in startup,. how should one start DX.
