Replace moves a component from one field to another (or adds a new one in
place to an existing field). Therefore the component you are 'replacing'
must have the same number of items as the component it replaces, to keep
the "dependency" relationship (either on positions or connections) sane.
This assumes you are trying to move a dependent component like data or
colors. If you are moving positions or connections, a number of other
things could be happening since these are the fundamental objects in a
field: you might have the type wrong or failed to add or modify a key
attribute that specifies how positions or connections are to be treated by
DX.
Use Print("rd") to examine the objects you are replacing from and to.
You'll probably find that the component you are trying to move into the
target field has a different item count.
This error can also occur if you try to replace a component from a single
field into a group object (hierarchies are different).
More detail please and we'll spot the error for you....
