David, I updloaded the opendx-4.1.1-1.i386.rpm to ftp.sdsc.edu. The opendx-4.1.1-redhat-6.2-linux-rh6.tar.gz should go away. The dxexec and dxui in opendx-4.1.1-redhat-6.2-linux-bin.tar.gz does frequent crashes or hang forever.
The binaries new opendx-4.1.1-1.i386.rpm should be much more stable, and relatively bug free. I also uploaded a tiny CDF RPM. It contains nothing else but libcdf.so, which is needed for Opendx-4.1.1. I used ImageMagick 5.2.2. Thanks goes to John Cristy for accepting my request to fix the freememory and reallocatememory comflicts with CDF and NetCDF. It works great with OpenDX, other users should use IM 5.2.2-beta code from IM FTP server. BTW: I also have somewhat buggy Opendx for upcoming RedHat IA64 ;-) Compiled it using SGI DevPro compilers and HP NUE IA64. I had to literally compile 100 things with SGI DevPro compilers under HP NUE IA64.. CDF, NetCDF, IM, HDF, XFree86 and a lot more to have a decent IA64 development environment for OpenDX. Once Intel's IA64 is out this fall or winter, we might have stable OpenDX for IA64 by that time. Below is the README file. Thanks Suhaib -----------README----------------- Compiled using DX 4.1.1 (CVS July 3, 2000) NOTE: This binary release is intended for: GCC 2.95.x and higher users. RedHat users who are using RH 6.x with custom kernel, e.g kernel 2.2.16 and higher should use this release. This release was built on RedHat 7.0 (not released yet to public by RedHat - but is a great step forward by RedHat folks and I would certainly recommend upgrading to RedHat 7.0 when released this Fall. THIS RELEASE MAY NOT BE BACKWARD COMPATIBLE WITH RedHat Linux 6.2 and lower OR a RedHat OS with Kernel 2.2.14 and lower. RedHat Linux 6.x users should use opendx-4.1.0 RPMS. Compiled using: --------------- 1) ImageMagick 5.2.2, with new OpenDX compatible API. Thanks to John Cristy for, accepting my request and making necessary changes to make IM compatible with OpenDX. IM libraries are statically linked to avoid confusions with other versions of IM. 2) CDF 2.7 - Shared library is linked. Either you need to compile it yourself and install it or download the libcdf-2.7.i386.rpm from same site you downloaded OpenDX 4.1.1. The libcdf RPM contains only /usr/lib/libcdf.so - no headers or binaries. 3) NetCDF, and HDF libraries are statically linked. 4) GCC 2.96 (aka 3.0??) 5) Glibc 2.2 6) XFree86 4.0.1 7) SGI OpenGL. You can download SGI OpenGL RPM from http://www.opendx.org. OpenGL from XFree86 4.0.1 will work too. 8) MOTIF 2.1.30 from http://www.motifzone.net You must have XFree86 4.0.x with OpenGL exntension and/or SGI OpenGL SI, MOTIF 2.1.30, and GCC 2.95.x or higher. Any questions and/or comments to OpenDX Mailing list PLEASE. Enjoy!!! Suhaib Siddiqi
