I have had that problem before, too.  What version are you running? I have
not seen the problem with 4.1.1 yet.  Did you download the SGI binaries
from opendx.org?  If so, you might want to get the latest version (4.1.1)
which I uploaded the other day, that David will be making available soon.
Remember to also get Image Magick 5.2.2 if you use those.

Otherwise, maybe can you track under what circumstances it occurs.  (Only
when using dx startupui or dx -edit, etc.)

I have netscape processes that don't die, too, so maybe it is just an SGI
feature.
