Jeff, thank you for your quick reply.
Thank you for the info about gif, I had missed it in the doc. I made
some other tests to debug my problems with rgb and tiff and I am quite
sure now
that they come from my Cygwin installation. My problems are solved when
I put my net and my datas in /home : I can read and write rgb, tiff,
miff and PostScript.
In my Cygwin1.1.4 installation, the "C:\Cygwin" directory is mounted as
/ and the defaut Home directory (default HOME variable) is /home where I
put the .bashrc file to define my own variables. But I did not want my
datas to be in the "C:\Cygwin" directory and I kept the default Win98
user work space location ("C:\Mes documents" in the french Win98) which
can be accessed in Cygwin at "/cygdrive/c/MESDOC~1" ("MESDOC~1" is the
DOS name for the "Mes documents" directory). All my read/write problems
happen only when I use directories under /cygdrive/c directly or through
a link in /home.I compared a tiff image saved in /home and the same tiff
image saved in /cygdrive/c and I discovered that the last one contained
some "CTRL M" characters which made it unreadable by OpenDX or Corel
Photo-Paint.
Of course the solution would be to put all my datas under /home, but I
would like to use datas from /cygdrive/c if possible, so I need an
advice from Cygwin specialists. Thank you in advance.
Best regards
