This sometimes happens to me as well (on AIX). At the same time I get
the error message
trans2% AIX has notified Data Explorer that the User Interface
is in danger of being killed due to insufficient page space.
on the command line, which is part of the explanation. This happens if
there is much traffic on the machine, but usually I can reconnect
(although that is no guarantee that the connection doesn't break again a
few minutes later).
