Right after the Import, throw in an Extract module and set the
'which' parameter to positions. Then feed that into your 'start'
param.

What would be the best way to extract the positions? I'm pretty
certain that that would do it (the default value for START does not
work because it just draws one streamline from the geometric center
of the mesh!).
The top of my .general files looks something like this:
