Import->Color("blue")->Image. No data required, surfaces (quads or 
tris) are rendered for free.

There is a cube glyph already: pull down the "type" menu in the Glyph 
config dialog.

See the Context-sensitive Help (or other docs) for how to prepare a 
user-specified shape.

Thanks Chris.  I don't want a cube glyph, I was just using that as a test
case.  I like the sound of "Glyph config dialog", but where do I find it?
The Data Prompter is not working yet on Windows.
