I have a tiff that is 2825x3000 which I want to paint onto a surface created
from an elevation data field that is a regular grid 1113x984 (they both span
the same range of x, but the tiff has a border on the y sides). If
necessary I could crop the tiff to make the aspect ratios the same.

I am using the example topo.net as my guide. The main difference between my
data and that displayed by topo.net is that in the example both the tiff and
the elevation file are the same size (400x400). Also my elevation data is
float not byte.

Topo.net does Import on the elevation data, and ReadImage on the tiff, then
passes each object through Reduce then Reorient, using the same reduction
parameter for each object. I am doing a Reduce on the image, but this
doesn't seem relevant to my problem. The key seems to be the Replace tool.
In the example, the tiff image is the dstfield input, while the elevation
object is the srcfield. The output is a field that is an image, and when
passed through RubberSheet produces the desired result. In my case, the
Replace doesn't complain but I get an error in RubberSheet:

ERROR: RubberSheet: Internal error: Task returned ERROR without calling
DXSetError.

I'm guessing that this is a consequence of the inputs to Replace having
different shapes. My question is, what do I need to do to the image and
elevation objects to be able to combine them in this way?

Thanks
Gib
