Dumb question from an opendx newbie...
I have a set of stellar parameters that are specified on an r,cos(theta)
mesh in spherical polar coordinates (and will eventually have data on an
r, theta, phi mesh). Is there a simple way to import such data to opendx
or do I have to convert all of the coordinates into cartesians first and
then import the file?
Grateful for advice (someone must have done this before!!)
Anna
Deeply hidden on the Cornell DX Repository is a large family of
"Vectors and Matrices" macros, including a few handy transformations
like RectangularToSphPolar.net and SphPolarToRectangular.net all of
which I developed many years ago and use to this day. In fact,
yesterday, I did conservatively 300,000 calls to both of those
macros. (:-)
For historic reasons (and because I'm lazy), the macros are at:
ftp://ftp.tc.cornell.edu/pub/Data.Explorer/extensions/Vectors.and.Matrices.Macros
while the introduction (sort of a Readme with formatting) is at:
http://www.tc.cornell.edu/Services/Vis/dx/DXTIPS/vectors.html
or just start at:
http://www.tc.cornell.edu/Services/Vis/dx/index.asp and drill down.
All the macros have internal documentation as I remember, anyway.
