I am installing opendx-4.1.0 on RS6000 and facing the problem of connection to
dxexec. I went over all the posts about this issue here, but still cannot
find the answer. In addition, My error message complains about "bad file
number", which I cann't understand.
After I untared and moved the neccesary files to /usr/local/bin and
/usr/local/lib, I tried to run dx on the same machine in many ways as
suggested.
Firstly without any option, just run dx. StartupUI and opendxUI are fine. So
the
connection between them is fine. I can also use the help and tutor. So the file
system is also good. But when I tried to load any sample *.net file, it
would pop up a window saying "Unable to make connection to dxexec". It failed
to
make the connection between opendxUI and dxexec.
Next with -edit/uionly option, I cannot start server. It pops up a message
window as this,
Starting DX exective
Memory cache will use ....
Select: Bad file number
Port = 1900
Error during initialization
Cannot make UI connection
With -execonly option, the error message is the same.
Finally, with -script option, no error message given. The program seems running
and staying in the dx> prompt. But it tells "0 worker"!
It looks like port number, the default 1900 is fine. The problem is the bad
file
name. But what is file name for in dx? Please give me some advice if you has
experience of installing dx.
