|Sure, with a specialized module. I put one together called
|ScreenObject. Should I think about adding it to OpenDX?
Thanks -- that'd be cool, if it wouldn't take much of your time.
World-space inside ("in the scene") screen objs also look like they might
be ideal for marking locations in volumes (no zoom-dependent glyph size
scaling required as you navigate around).
However, I'm still scratching my head trying to figure these things out.
The occlussion results between between HW & SW rendering with world-space
inside screen objects is different. In SW rendering, the screen obj is
always behind the scene. In HW, ...well, the results are just plain weird.
In particular, I'm trying to determine if DX Screen objs can be used to
support standard ROT_EYE world-space billboards with Z buffering (that is,
the object's size and location is calculated in world coords, but rotation
stays flush with the view plane, and it's rendered in the scene).
