Kevin,

This is due to using X-Win32 v5.2.1. Since it didn't exist when 4.1.3 was produced, then there is a problem that exists. I will send you offline a new version of the dx.exe from the upcoming release that will fix your problems.

David

I am running OpenDX v. 4.1.3 on a Compaq running Windows XP.
The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 1800. RAM is 1GB. I am using X-Win 32
v. 5.2.1 as my X server.

I've tried using two versions of OpenDX, the trial version from the IBM site,
and the version from VIS, Inc.

With the former (IBM trial) I find that it performs properly if (a) I open
a command prompt and set my DISPLAY variable properly (as advised),
and (b) if I set the "compatibility mode" for "Windows 98 / Windows ME".
If I do not set this switch (or I set the compatibility mode for Windows NT)
the software crashes when I click "Run Visual Programs...". I find this strange
given that the same version of the IBM trial software worked fine on a PC
running Windows NT.

With the latter (VIS, Inc.) I get a series of warnings that the osf keyboard settings
are not recognized, and then I completely lose keyboard functionality.

My primary interest is in getting the VIS, Inc. version to work, so my questions are

1) Are there any warnings or limitations to running OpenDX using XP and/or
the Athlon chip set that others have come across?

2) For those using OpenDx with X-Win 32, are there any postings on how to
    add the missing keysyms?

I looked for answers to both questions in the archives of the mailing lists but
without success.

Thanks,

Kevin B. Quest
