Hi,

I am running OpenDX 4.1.3 on Linux RedHat 7.2

I am attempting to import some sample data from

        http://www.nas.nasa.gov/Research/Datasets/Hung/index.shtml

It is in plot3d format with only a grid and solution file.

I have compiled the Plot3DtoDX.c utility but could not figure out what
flags I needed to process the file.

The readme says

Plot3DtoDX xyzfile qfile ffile dimensions mgrid iblank binary
leadtrail

I only have blunt.x and blunt.q (I know it is a 3dimensional file from
the documentation on the URL), so I tried the following

        Plot3DtoDX -xyz blunt.x -q blunt.q -dim 3

It just hangs after printing out some diagnostics.

On the above site it says.

"The data are in plot3d, single-zone, binary. All floating point
data are in 32-bit IEEE format, SGI endian."

Could the endian thing be the problem ?

Is it because plot3d is not like NetCDF/HDF which are portable
crossplatform representation of floating point number.

Do I need an SGI machine to read the Plot3D data from NASA ?

Cheers
