Neil Carlson:
|DX creates a regular file "DX" in a user's home directory which it
|uses to keep track of which pop-up "wizard" windows the user doesn't
|want to see. Is there a configuration option, commandline option,
|evironment variable, ... that one can use to change the name of this
|file? I've searched but didn't find anything. I don't know about
|other people, but I find the use of $HOME/DX to be very annoying and
|would like to set it to something more conventional like $HOME/.dx
|or $HOME/.dxrc (something hidden).
That practice annoys me too (KDE, Afterstep, 4DWM, ...). Don't think you
can change the path without patching the DX code. However, you can turn
off wizard mode and thus the creation of this file. Put this in your X
resources;
DX*wizard: false
or leave it on and just list what you don't want to see anymore:
DX*dismissedWizards: editorWindow
"X resources" meaning whatever file gets loaded with xrdb on your system
(~/.Xdefaults, ~/.Xresources, etc.).
