Sorry about that. I have noticed it, now that you mention it. So I looked into it and I believe I found the problem in Findroute.c. Looks like a confusing line of code was misinterpreted in a cleanup pass.

Has anyone else observed that the data path lines drawn in the visual
program editor have gone goofy in 4.2? When I connect modules or move
modules around, dx often (I'd almost say usually) produces connection
lines with loops or crazy paths, backtracks, and even invisible
sections. Never had a bit of problem with 4.1.3, so it appears to me
that the layout algorithm has changed in 4.2. Anyone else with this
problem?
