Hi,
I am currently working on a project where I need exactly this integration
capability. Thanks a lot. I have x-ray fluorescence spectra taken at
different times, where I want to plot the signal along the time axis
integrated over the width of the peaks of interest along the orthogonal
energy axis.
Actually, this is not the first time this topic appears on the list. Also, in
a different software project, which analyses diffraction data taken with a
CCD camera over time, we have implemented the same integration or averaging
functionality, and have found it to be one of the most useful functions in
everyday work.
I would therefore propose or request to add an additional tool to dx that
offers this integration or averaging right out of the box. The module would
look like slab at the input side and like slice at the output, averaging over
the index range defined at the input and reducing the dimensionality by
removing the one in the averaging direction.
I think that in many cases where one currently uses slice, such an
integration could be more convenient. In my case, for example, a time
integration of all spectra would give me a low-noise integrated spectrum
containing all peaks that I need to stretch and shift the energy axis to the
known elemental line positions, much more convenient than doing the
adaptation at different slice positions with high noise levels.
Just wondering whether I am the only one in need of such a tool.
Thanks for your time,
Wolfgang
