I've been using DX with OTI*HULL - Euler and Lagrange, 
2D (cylindrical and Cartesian geometries) and 3D - for 
more than ten years.  Formatting data from other 
similarly constructed hydrocodes (like EPIC, CSQ, CTH 
and Mesa) into DX native format and  putting together 
useful networks should not be a Herculean task.  I've 
also done some fiddling with SPH codes.  That's a more 
challenging problem, but it can be done.

David Thompson's book "Open DX - Paths to 
Visualization" on page 28.
