I’m a first time user of OpenDX, trying to import data.

My data were collected in a 3x3x176 grid, by sending a recording instrument through 9 evenly spaced wells.

I have temperature and conductivity data.

I’d like to make a 3D grid of the data.

I'd like to import without making large changes to my data format - I've got many megabytes of data files.

I’m mostly confused about row vs. column majority as described in the IBM Quickstart Guide.

My data are grouped as follows (where t=temperature, c=conductivity, w=well#)…

T1(X1,Y1,Z1,W1), C1(X1,Y1,Z1,W1)

T2(X1,Y1,Z2,W1), C2(X1,Y1,Z2,W1)

T3(X1,Y1,Z3,W1), C3(X1,Y1,Z3,W1)

…

T176(X1,Y1,Z176,W1), C3(X1,Y1,Z176,W1)

…

T1(X1,Y2,Z1,W2), C1(X1,Y2,Z1,W2)

T2(X1,Y2,Z2,W2), C2(X1,Y2,Z2,W2)

T3(X1,Y2,Z3,W2), C3(X1,Y2,Z3,W2)

…

T176(X1,Y2,Z176,W2), C176(X1,Y2,Z176,W2)

…

T1(X3,Y3,Z1,W9), C1(X3,Y3,Z1,W9)

T2(X3,Y3,Z2,W9), C2(X3,Y3,Z2,W9)

T3(X3,Y3,Z3,W9), C3(X3,Y3,Z3,W9)

…

T176(X3,Y3,Z176,W9), C3(X3,Y3,Z176,W9)

So far, I’ve been trying to import as:

(“?” where I’m not sure which to pick)

Grid/Scattered

Columnar (?)

# Variables=2

---

Grid Size=3x3x176

Data Order=Row (????)

Origin, Delta= (0,75),(0,75),(0,1) #wells are 75 m apart, z spacing is 1 m

When I autogrid using a .general file with these settings, the grid doesn’t look like  I expect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks.
