I have had very similar problems, although my app is larger (*.net > 1mb, +
macros of 650k or so).
Whilst I find it irritating, my solution is to open the net with a default
setting that doesn't really do much except load the ui, bring up my image
window, that sort of thing. I execute this in "once only" mode, bring up
the ui then select the data file I want and execute this "once" only as
well. thus, I basically load the ui and data (well a part of the data any
way) in 2 steps. Then I go for execute on change mode and all works OK,
most of the time.
Also, having a powerful machine seems to help. I use 1.5GB ram and can
easily handle data files c300MB. However on 756MB machines the same data
files sometime choke. I haven't worried too much about this, scale I know
my dx app and data file structures could be streamlined significantly. I
was planning on a rewrite in the next few months, and if the problems
persisted then bring the topic up. However Joel beet me to it, so....

ps, this is under win2K.

Have you tried opening your file in UI mode only? (dx -uionly) Sometimes
this can open it when you're not talking with the exec. Are you loading
your Macros first or just trying to open the file?
If you have time to bundle this all up, I'd be interested in seeing it to
see if I can reproduce the problem with the latest builds.

Hello,
I'm experiencing a problem that has been discussed before...
OpenDX hangs when a large net is executed from the UI. I have
tried the suggested solution, increasing DX_SOCKET_BUFSIZE.
But even setting it to the maximum allowed (1048576) doesn't
help. So, one question I have is how large is large? My .net
file is small (<80k) although it does use a number of macros.
Even so, the total size is well under 1MB. Is there an
alternative workaround?
Thanks,
Joel
