I have been reading through all the list archives to see if anyone has travelled this road, before I embark on "reinventing the wheel".
I have data from cosmological simulations I have done with a public code version of "GADGET". This program produces output in snapshot files in a binary format, with particle positional, velocity and mass data, plus more info. This is an astro-physics code which uses SPH and tree code to evolve from initial conditions for various scenarios for cosmological evolution of various particle types (eg: stars, gas, dark matter, etc). I have tried using the data import tool (data prompter) to describe the data layout, without success. I need to have more refined data layouts ? or definitions to extract the data correctly for visualisation. Has anyone created a filter or module for gadget data import ? Help greatly appreciated if available. If not, I guess I will have to start trying to code own import.... Steve Ross Information Technology Systems Engineer C.A.D.E.T. 60 George St., P.O.
