Thanks a lot, Chris. I also found the solution, it can be done just in the data prompter. All I had to do was to pick the warped regular grid type instead of scattered data: those don't have any connections. I believe it's the same as what you've suggested. Yes, I was not attentive enough while reading the users guide.
