Hello,

I'm trying to get a demonstration running using
OpenDX. Basically I just want them to click a script
on the desktop of my Mandrake Linux 9.1 box and see
two windows pop open with different running displays
(one on each of my two monitors). I have the script
properly configured i think.

dx -image -execute -display :0.0 (file here)
dx -image -execute -display :0.1 (file here)

i've tried a bunch of ways to do this, however none of
them will start on launch. Using the sequencer it
works fine, but execute from the menu does nothing. I
used the initial 4.2.0 version that came on the cd.

Then I upgraded to 4.3.0 using rpmfind.net. When I try
the scripts, I get an error message saying the path to
dxexec was wrong. I think this is the same error as in
the old one, just no message.

I've tried compiling the 4.3.0 sources, but it hangs
on one of the zlib files. I cant tell you which one
right now, I'm backing up my system and would have to
wait a couple of hours.

I am going to try compiling 4.2.0 tomorrow morning,
but i fear it will hang on it too.

Now here's the weird thing:

I can go into the dx -script prompt, type
loop on;
palindrome on;
include (file)
play;

and it works fine!!! If i try using
echo 'loop on; palindrome on; include (file); play;' |
dx -script
it plays without looping.

If i try using dx -scriptcmd and various things, I can
repeat the no looping, but adding loop on; prevents it
from passing. It says it doesnt understand on.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. I basically am
looking for a way to get the problems in the mandrake
rpms taken care of. I fear that my version of gcc
(3.2.2) may be causing the compile errors.

Thank you
Timothy Bumpus
