I filed the bug myself (ID 134) - I just hope the category is correct.
The colormap editor is part of the core and not a module, isn't it?
Thanks again for your help.

I bet this has to do with your X-Windows being set to 15 or 16 bit.
Try setting it to 24 bit and see if that fixes it. If so, we can file
a bug on it.
Yes, thanks a lot, David. Switching from 16 bit to 24 bit fixes the
problem for me!
How do I file a bug and what (system) information is necessary for that?
when I open the colormap editor, I don't see the usual 'color
rainbow bar' between 'min' and 'max', next to the RGB box. Instead,
the box is just filled completely black. However, I see the
red/green/blue lines in the RGB box like expected. Nothing changes -
with regard to the 'rainbow' being black - no matter which control
points I move/add, ... changing 'Set background style ...' in the
'Options' menu or any other menu option doesn't do anything either.
Am I missing something obvious? Apart from this, everthing else
seems to
be working fine.
In case this information is important, I'm on SuSE Linux 8.1, using
opendx 4.3.0, compiled by myself.
