Is this the VIS, Inc version of OpenDX 4.3? If so, contact me
separately and I will see if we can find a solution. If not, I can't
really help.

I am using OpenDX 4.3.0 on a 733 MHz Dell PC with 512 Mb RAM. I have
nearly 3 Gb free on my C: drive.
Actually, the message "ERROR: Compute: Out of memory: reached limit
of 23068672 in large arena" has appeared before, when I tried to
save an image with "Allow Rendering" checked.
I note that the example Message Window on p. 99 of Paths to Visualization says
"Memory cache will use 112 MB ...", in contrast to the "24 MB" that
appears when I run a program.
Is this a limitation of the PC implementation or do I have an
incorrect config file or something?
