Although the data model can support the description of such meshes, most modules won't support direct operations on them. While DX could be enhanced to support such meshes, it is a considerable undertaking. Given this limitation, I would recommend that you decompose the pyramids and prisms into tetrahedra.

Hi everybody!
Can someone tell me how to handle with OpenDX hybrid mesh with pyramid, prism
and other polyhedron different from traditional cubes and tetrahedra?
Which element type have I to specify in dx header? I wouldn't to treat a prism
as a degenerate hexahedron with vertices collapsing.
Any suggestion will be appreciated
