Thank you, that solved the problem indeed. >>>> Hello, >>>> >>>> I have upgraded my FreeBSD operating system, from 4.10 to 5.3. >>>> >>>> Under 4.10, OpenDX was running like a charm. >>>> >>>> Now, the OpenDX VPE does not anymore "connect to the server" >>>> (whatever that means), by popping up an error dialog: >>>> >>>> Error >>>> Connection to the server has been broken. So then let me come back to my original question: When I do: dx -edit I get the connection-error dialog like above. When I do: dx -edit -processors 1 all is fine, but when I do: dx -edit -processors 2 the connection-error dialog pops up again. The BIOS on my single-CPU PC allows so-called Hyperthreading mode, which simulates two processors. I run a FreeBSD 5.3 kernel in SMP-mode, which indeed recognizes 2 processors. A simular setup with FreeBSD 4.10 was never a problem, but apparently 5.3 somehow confuses OpenDX. I report this just for the record. I have no idea whether this is an OpenDX, or a FreeBSD issue. Regards, Rob.
