Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out that I didn't have a file to
link to libXp.so.6. The problem appears to be Fedora's switch from
Xfree86 to Xorg's implementation of X11. The solution was to install
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.1-12.i386.rpm, which is on Disk 2 of the
Fedora C3 distribution and contains the missing file.

I'm surprised that this libXp.so.6 problem hasn't appeared here before.
At least I couldn't find it when I searched the archives.

My problem with libXm.so.3 was that OpenMotif wasn't installed. For
some reason I could only install it by ignoring dependencies. Once I
installed both RPMs, I was able to install and run OpenDX.

Subject: Re: [opendx-users] Can't install OpenDX on Fedora Core 3

Marvin,

Try linking the libraries you have to the ones DX is expecting:

ln -s /usr/lib/libXm.so(the one yuou have) libXm.so.3

This usually works.

I am having trouble installing the OpenDX RH9 binary on a PC running
Fedora Core 3. Is anyone running the RH9 binary with Fedora C3?

When I try to install OpenDX I encounter failed dependencies:

libXm.so.3 is needed by opendx-4.3.2-1.i386

libXp.so.6 is needed by opendx-4.3.2-1.i386

When I try to install the packages needed to resolve the failed
dependencies I encounter following conflicts:

# rpm -ihv xorg-x11-libs-data-6.7.0-2.i386.rpm

Preparing... ########################################### [100%]

What do you suggest I do to resolve this problem?
