Hi Pekka!

VAS is a quantification of the severity of a symptom, which could be pain or
other symptoms. When the international Symptom/Sign archetype was reviewed and
published, the element “Severity rating” was included to cater for VAS or other
severity scales. For now, there are no plans to make a specific archetype for
pain in the international space, as the generic Symptom/Sign archetype should
support all generic requirements. The former (draft) Pain specialisation of the
(draft) Symptom archetype was rejected for this reason.

Subject: Fwd: Archetype for pain scale (VAS)

Hi all,

Looking for an archetype for recording VAS scale. Searching suggested that
there used to be a CLUSTER.Symptom-pain [Pain symptom] archetype in the
international CKM.

I could only find it from the NEHTA CKM but not from the international one. Any
thoughts on this?

Thanks,

-Pekka
