It could also be "valid time interval for this capability". "role" is 
just a copy-paste mistake, I guess.

It makes sense since one ROLE can have several CAPABILITYs, each 
CAPABILITY should have its own validity, which can be different from the 
one ROLE has.

I would guess that you can play the role even if you don't have any 
credentials since capabilities in ROLE is optional.
