Hi,

This is ultimately a decision the YP TSC will need to make (it concerns
YP testing) but I wanted to give people an opportunity to provide
feedback.

There are two patch series for OE-Core master which both break meta-
gplv2. I personally have no enthusiasm for that layer and I don't think
its reasonable to ask submitter to care about that layer at this point
either.

I believe the concept of meta-gplv2 is broken. We don't want to
maintain old versions of the software in a clean room style environment
as the upstreams all move forward with new development, features and
incompatibilities. It was created as a bandaid, its probably time to
move on?

We'd be better off looking at replacing these components with others
with acceptable licensing, as Alex recently demonstrated in OE-Core.

I appreciate there are people who use the layer and people have been
relatively responsive in maintaining it and finding workarounds for
issues introduced by changes in OE-Core. We may be able to do so again.

I think there are layers YP testing should cover which we currently
don't. I also think there are layers we test currently which we should
drop, particularly this one.

Thoughts from anyone?

Cheers,

Richard
