what you have is correct but its also not clear what parameters you are checking to determine if its disabled or enabled. DISTRO_FEATURES provide a global knob to disable it, however sometimes logic comes down to individual recipes to do the right thing and it might be different for different packages. While many packages will work out of box, some may not.
