Yes, I am on board that RRECOMMENDS_${PN}-bin_append_class-target = " u-boot-default-env" might be better, will change to that in V3, but this error probably due to you dont have RPROVIDES_${PN}-env += "u-boot-default-env" in your uboot recipe?
