The instructions on the page you mentioned are for the .dev branch only. > I've run into countless build problems, where some of them are > documented in bug #4588. > > http://bugs.openembedded.net/show_bug.cgi?id=4588 That bug is filed against .dev, is this right? > The furthest I've ever gotten in my build of 'rxtx' was (starting from > scratch) by creating my own jamvm-initial-1.5.1.bb and using jamvm as > the preferred native, initial, and target VMs, but finally, when I got > to the point where I was about to build rxtx, rxtx died complaining that > there was no symbol called 'vm_createjvm', which existed in the cacao > binary in tmp/work/x86_64-linux/usr/bin. The error message is from a cacao binary. Have a look what is 'java' in your staging directory. It is a symlink pointing to either jamvm or cacao. Whatever was built last (Ideally it should not be needed to build jamvm-native and cacao-native). > Has anyone managed to successfully create a working Java environment or > is the 'stability' documented on the Wiki just myth? You can get ready built packages for the beagleboard via Angstrom. It also contains cacao, jamvm and phoneme-advanced for your target. Regards Robert
