Dear all OpenERP community members, experts
and partners.
It is with great excitement that we
announce the release of our branch of the openerp 6.1
web-client onto github patched with tabs, menu icons and bug
fixes.
The idea has come after we released the
web_tabs module as an addon to the main web-client, however we
felt very limited by what we could do with that approach and
seeing too much divergence between the official direction of
OpenERP S.A. and our own vision. This has been further
highlighted by the trunk release of the new 7.0 web-client,
which rather than focus on adding enterprise features, it adds
too many of eye-candy and social media features that we simply
find unnecessary for ERP systems.
What we would like to do now is to invite
everyone interested, willing and capable to contribute to this
branch with merge proposals on github, so the end result will
be a next level and intuitive ERP web-client suitable for
enterprise needs from accounting to manufacturing and CRM.
The install of this web-client is easy:
1– in your /etc/openerp-server.conf find
the addons_path and replace the original web-addons path with
the one from this branch.
2 – restart the server
3 – clear your browser cache
4 – enjoy the new client
Our immediate goal is to achieve the below
functionality, so if you like to contribute with anything,
please get in touch:
1 – unify the ‘form’ and ‘page’ views, so
the web-client will look more like the GTK client
2 – amend the ‘tree’ views, so we can have
context menus for right-clicking on records – also to make it
more like the GTK feel and look.
3 – possibly introduce the double-clicking
on tree-view records to open and single click to select.
