With Ubuntu (from 12.10) switching to Python 3, is there any plan for OpenERP
to be Python 3 compatible (if this is not yet the case)?
No plans yet, but Python 3 is only the default for Ubuntu 12.10 Desktop, not
the server version.
not even that, Python 2.7.3 is the desktop default, but Python 3.2.3 is
also installed (type python3 in a terminal to get it)
There is an aspiration again to make Python 3 the only shipping Python
on the desktop by default in 13.04, other versions will be available in
the repositories still. So no hurry, but it would probably be nice to
have it on Python 3.
And Python 2.7 will still be available for the foreseeable
future on the Desktop too, if I understand correctly what was announced by
Canonical.
yes, it isn't going away, it is not broken, but Python 3 is the new
hotness and things will go that way as time passes
