Maybe the OCB branches can include that ?
I usually maintain backport branches of all the patches and modules we
make for all the versions we use. That's quite a heavy burden, but I
can't see myself planning a migration without that.
However it's getting so heavy that we had to skip v6.1, and I'm not sure
whether we can ever migrate to v7 (we'd skip from v6.0 to v8).
So I'd be happy to co-maintain shared modules if that can make it less
time consuming for us.

But if we want them on v7, we have to put them within "tweaks
modules", like Niels proposes.
For future versions of openerp, tweaks modules could be included in
core modules and deprecated.
